THE second half of the NHTTA League season opened with the reverse inter-club matches for the Royston Table Tennis Club teams. There was no surprise in the outcome of the Premier Division clash, where the A team had a comfortable 8-2 victory over the B team. Paul Robertson and Kevin Moore won all their singles and the doubles for the A team, with Mike Malone adding the other point. Dave Bridges and Alf Mills recorded a single each for the B team. The Division Two meeting of the C and D teams was a much closer affair. The C team were seeking revenge for their 6-4 defeat in the first match, and things looked promising when they raced into a 4-1 lead. But the doubles success for the D team proved a turning point and they went to to take the final four singles games as well to complete an unlikely repeat of their 6-4 victory. Derek Clark was the star for the D team, winning his three singles, supported by one apiece and the doubles from Larry Meriez and Rob Vassello. For the C team Gordon Barnes and Haydn Gowan won two singles each. In Division B the E team had a tough match against second- placed Bedwell F and went down 6-4.
