Great Chishill 1

LUKE Tyler's late goal saw Chishill finish the BIS League season with a victory.

Their first half performance should have seen them lead at the break, as they dominated and played the better football for long periods.

The hoe keeper saved well to deny Elliot Drury, and Gareth Edey went close with a series of powerful headers, one just brushing the crossbar.

In response, Villa came closest to scoring with their one good chance, smashing the ball against the bar from eight yards.

The visitors made changes at half time, as players were rested for upcoming cup games, and goalkeeper Ian Gallagher was given a run in the forward line.

The second half was disappointing compared to the first, although Jonathan Drury hit a post with a powerful drive, and substitute keeper Shaun Wilson was in inspired form, dealing with a number of fine efforts from Villa's attack.

The game looked to be heading for a goalless draw, until Chishill were awarded a free-kick on the right.

Tyler floated the ball into the area, and it evaded everybody as it dropped into the far corner of the net.

Gallagher thought he had managed to get on the scoresheet himself, tapping in from close range, only for the goal to be harshly ruled out for a foul on the goalkeeper.

Ashdon offered little in the last 10 minutes, and Chishill took the points to go into their midweek cup ties in confident mood.

Chishill: Gallagher, R Drury, Gardiner, Rogers, Bramwell, Hodge, Tyler, Edey, E Drury, McGee, J Drury. Subs: Radford, C Wilson, S Wilson.

FOWLMERE finished their season with a hard-fought draw to finish sixth in the BIS League Division One.

The first half was end to end stuff with neither side having clear chances although Fulbourn were unlucky not to take the lead when after a couple of goal line clearances the ball eventually crashed against the crossbar and away from the goal much to Fowlmere's relief.

After the break, Fowlmere struggled to keep the ball out of their own half but some dogged defending kept Fulbourn's chances down to a minimum and give Fowlmere their seventh clean sheet since the turn of the year.

Fowlmere: Pedlar, O'Farrell (Foggo), Geal, King, Souter, Wood, Woods, Faubel, Fields (Clarke), Symonds, Shilton.
