HEYDON Grange golfer Saleem Akhtar completed a memorable week, winning three matches in two national competitions in seven days.
First, Akhtar went to Chesfield Downs in Stevenage, where he earned a hard-fought win against Adrian Allen in the Daily Telegraph National Singles tournament.
Akhtar, who is also the managing director of Heydon Grange, then beat Matthew Neiland at Trent Park.
And finally, playing at home in the Daily Telegraph pairs competition Akhtar and Tom Reilly defeated Nazeing pair Kim and Linda Evans to seal a memorable week.
ANOTHER busy period of competition activity at Royston Golf Club saw the pairing of Eric Baker and Andrew Greville-Smith emerge as winners of the Mens' Fourball Stableford with 41 points.
The combination of Charlie Winter and Bert Burns scored 39 points to secure second place.
The Seniors Midweek Stableford for July was won by Colin Lawrance (17 handicap), who edged ahead of Jim Hopkins (11 handicap) on the countback after both scored 36 points.
The Vets Centenary Trophy was won by seniors captain Eddie Collins with 35 points (11 handicap). Again the countback process was required to identify the winner, with Doug Moule (13 handicap) narrowly missing out on the top spot.
In the Hospital Cups charity event, the men's cup was won by Craig Holson, whose impressive 46 points (22 handicap) gave him a comfortable margin over runner-up John White 40 points (20 handicap).
The highlight of Holson's round was an eagle 2 on the 18th hole.
The ladies cup was won by Kathleen Caunce 35 points (31 handicap), with Sarah Green 31 points (15 handicap) in second place.
The men's Sunday Medal and Centenary Qualifier was won by Nick Sugden net 64 (gross 80 - 16 handicap), with Derek Hayden net 68 (gross 86 - 18 handicap) and Ian Dell net 69 (gross 91 - 22 handicap) in second and third places respectively.
The Vernon Putting Cup was won by Adam Woods, who beat Steve de Fraine in the 36 holes putting matchplay final.
STEVE Miller won his second consecutive Heydon Grange Golf Club Championship in style after leading the competition from start to finish.
In windy conditions, Miller's accuracy from the tee was telling, as he finished the first round four shots ahead of his nearest rival. And despite a strong second round from Chris Collinson, Miller stuck to his game plan to seal victory.
WENDY Osborne won this year's Heydon Ladies June Trophy.
In difficult weather conditions, Osborne finished her round on 45 points, 11 ahead of nearest challenger Mandy Hanscombe.
And to cap a fine all-round performance, Osborne also won the prize for straightest drive.
