BUNTINGFORD Town boss Paul Attfield was celebrating after his side defeated Herts County League leaders Whitewebbs for the second time this year. Robbie Wilmott's goal was enough to give Town their fifth straight victory. "We've played five of the eight top teams in the last few weeks, including the leaders twice, and been better than the opposition for substantial periods of each game," said Attfield. "The team are looking very, very good at the moment and confidence is quite rightly very high." Town have inflicted two of Whitewebbs' three losses this season, and a measure of the Enfield-based club's dominance is that they are still 18 points clear at the top of the table. Attfield puts his side's success down to Town's youth policy, which has seen them run teams in two under-18 leagues and also run an under-16 section. He said: "The excellent youth set up the club runs is now starting to have a genuine effect at senior level, with all the teenagers now adapting and playing very well to this standard of football, and also learning from the senior players who, in turn, respond to the energy levels the youngsters have shown." Town should extend their winning run on Saturday when they travel to strugglers Little Munden before playing Standon & Puckeridge at Wodson Park, on Wednesday evening, in the Herts Floodlight Cup. Buntingford's opponents in the Aubrey (League) Cup semi-final are known following Codicote's 3-0 win against Sarratt. The sides will meet at The Bury on Saturday, March 11.
