BUNTINGFORD Town got back to winning ways on Saturday thumping Hatfield 4-1 at The Bury.

And it was the intensity of the hosts' play that caused their opposition problems and with a bit more luck in front of goal Buntingford could have had a few more.

Will Turl had Town's first chance, but the forward shot wide after some good work by Tom Malins. Conor De Lacy also went close, but his strike was blocked by the Hatfield keeper's legs.

However, at the other end the majority of the visitors attacks were kept at bay, as Buntingford's well organised backline held firm.

Although they were undone in the 25th minute when a Hatfield free kick was headed at goal, but Damion Williamson was on hand to push the ball away with a great stop.

Then five minutes, Town took the lead when Duncan Easley glanced home a header at the near post following Malins' corner, before De Lacy went close again with his half volley flying just wide of the Hatfield goal.

Minutes into the second half, boss Paul Attfield would have been worried following last weekend's 10 minutes of madness that led to the defeat against Park Street and again Town's second half started slowly.

And as Hatfield began to get a hold of the game, they won themselves a penalty after David Cain brought a forward down in the box. Hatfield's Golder left Williamson with no chance with the resulting kick and within minutes Hatfield had levelled the score.

Lewis Endacott then headed another Hatfield effort of the line, before another claim for a penalty was controversially dismissed.

But it was a decision that ultimately changed the game, and from then on the home side upped their game. And in the 56th minute, it was Buntingford's turn to have a penalty waved away after Malins was felled in the Hatfield area.

However, they were soon back in front when Malins netted from close range, pouncing on Hatfield's inability to clear from a corner.

And two goals soon turned into three in the 62nd minute when Malins grabbed his 16th goal of the season following Endacott's long throw.

Luke Robins completed the win with 15 minutes remaining charging down the Hatfield keeper's clearance and rolling the ball into an empty net.

Robins went close minutes later with one close range volley following another Malins cross, and then smashed the post with a well-taken free kick in the last minute.

Attfield said: "After last week's defeat the way we bounced back was very impressive. I thought that defensively we were superb and we limited them to only the few chances.

"Apart from 10 minutes in the second half I thought we controlled the game - especially in the last half hour. Our creativity was also good and after 90 minutes the score was well merited."
