A TIGHT game at Baldock saw Royston ladies' Top 10 Team record a 76-73 victory.

Royston lost the singles 21-15, and the pairs 29-14. However, good wins in the triples (20-12) and fours (27-11), gave Royston a narrow victory to progress into the fourth round.

The Royston BC team of Don Sheriff, Neil Butler Matt Coppen, and Stuart Brown qualified for fourth round of the County 4's with a 22-17 victory.

The Riverain BC pairs team of R Shinner and C Thurstance, came to Royston last week to play a Letchworth & District Pairs competition against Matt Coppen and Peter Adams, but it was the hosts who went home happy with a 26-11 win.

Last Tuesday saw two County Triples competitions taking place at Royston. Colin Wilson led his team of Will Martin, and Terry Hollands to a 17 - 10 win over their opponents from the St Ippolyts BC.

However the other Royston team of Brian Pepper, George Lewis, and skip Rodney Dean, after scoring two ends of five during the game, then dropped an eight.

Their Dixonian (Stevenage) opponents then edged away to win 26-16.

Last Wednesday, Brian Pepper, subbing for Don Sheriff, accompanied Mel Flack in the fourth round of the County Pairs.

Their opponents, Brian Todd and Dave Turner from Baldock, provided them with stiff competition.

It was a close game throughout, but the Baldock pair snatched a three shot victory, winning 19-16.

The same evening also saw a Letchworth & District Fours competition between two Royston teams.

This was another closely fought game with the team, skipped by Peter Adams, fighting to stay with their opponents but never quite managing to pull ahead.

In the end, it was the team skipped by Stuart Brown who held on to claim victory by five shots.

An important game took place on Thursday evening with another round of the Club Top Ten.

Royston were up against a strong team from the Croxley Guild. Matt Coppen had a convincing win in the singles, 21-9.

Brian Pepper and skip Keith Dockree also triumphed 23-10.

However, the triples went down 20-14, but a comfortable 28-8 win for the fours wrapped up an 86-47 win.

Friday again saw two Royston players against each other, this time in the County Singles.

Peter Adams and Mick O'Flanagan put on a good performance, with the former just having the edge to win 21-15.

Victories on all three rinks saw Royston progress in the McMullen Trophy with a 65-45 win against Holwell.
