LEAGUE leaders the under-13s entertained second place Weston at the Meads in a hard fought and passionate battle.

Outstanding defending and goalkeeping prevented anyone scoring as the run of play see-sawed either way.

Passion and frustration got the better of both teams resulting in Hares going down to 10 men in the second half.

Centre halves Harry Crow and Jonathan Hart typified Hormead's team performance the 0-0 final score in reflection a fair result all round.

A good first half performance saw Hares under-sevens go into the break goalless against a Stevenage Borough side who had hammered them earlier in the season.

However, Borough had advantage of the slope in the second half and proved just too strong for Hormead.

They took the lead early on and two further goals from the home side put the match beyond Hormeads reach.

Solid tackling from Chrissy Georgiou and Oliver Clark kept the score to respectable 3-0 loss.

An early own goal meant the Hares were always going to find it tough in the second game.

Brave goalkeeping from keeper Charlie Hannam could not prevent Borough going in 3-0 up at the break.

Courageous saves by second half keeper Ethan Warman restricted the Stevenage forwards to just two more strikes whilst Sheldon Best and Eliot Gilbertson troubled the Stevenage defence on several occasions in reply.

The under-nine Pumas battled hard against this good Hatfield side and were unlucky to lose 3-1.

Rob Lankester opened the scoring before Hatfield scored two goals in quick succession as Hares went close attempting to level the score before Hatfield scored their final goal.

The under-nine Cougars went down 1-0 despite debutant Jack Shambrook's making a great debut between the sticks and Ami Ellis performing well up front.

The under-10s went down 3-0 and 3-2 in their pair of games against Austen Arrowheads, with Emma Pain netting both the B team's goals.

Hormead under-11s fell to their third consecutive defeat away at Baldock.

An evenly matched game ensued before Baldock took the lead, and soon doubled their advantage.

In the second half Hormead mounted a number of attacks until Baldock bagged their third goal. Robbie Levy pulled a goal back before Baldock to struck again for a 4-1 win.

A closely contested under-12s match with Royston Town saw both sides cancel each other out in key positions as the game finished goalless.

Despite a dominant Hormead under-13 girls first half performance Hares and Isleham went in at half-time with a surprisingly 0-0 scoreline.

A much-changed Hares team opened the scoring after the break when Bayford-Smith prodded home before Harris fired from close range to make it 2-0.

Gabriella Hodgson ran 40 yards, outpacing four defenders before slotting home for Hares.

Summer Winkworth set up a Katie Jennings' strike with five minutes remaining before Megan Gilligan wrapped things up.

Facing last years winners Baldock Knights so early on in the League Cup was not a kind draw to Hares' under-15 boys.

Despite missing a couple of key players Hormead battled well but were unable to stop Baldock tucking away three just before half time including a own goal.

The first 20 minutes of the second half saw Hormead force Baldock onto the back foot but against the run of play Knights' fourth put the game beyond Hormead. A good Baldock move was again finished off in the final minutes of the game to make it a 5-0 Hares loss.

The under-15 girls entertained Histon and recorded an amazing 15-1 victory.

From the first to final whistle it was a non stop Hormead attack on Histon's goal as Amy Maher bagged five goals and Yasmin Pratt four. Katie Grehan added a hat-trick, and the scoring was completed by Kelly Bird (2) and Emma Jennings.
