Great Chishill's fixture pile-up seemed to be taking a toll on their season last week, as they lost their first two games of their league campaign.
Last Tuesday they went down 2-0 to Great Chesterford Reserves, and then lost a closely fought match at leaders Whittlesford on Saturday.
Steve McGee hit a post early on for the visitors, and a lobbed finish on the counter attack was enough for Whittlesford, as Chishill enjoyed a lot of possession, without really creating anything in the second half.
Sandwiched between those games though was a Bambridge Cup home tie against Melbourn Reserves.
With the home team resting several players, reserve players who have had only limited opportunities this season slotted in and produced an emphatic 8-1 victory.
Jonathan Drury opened the scoring, before a bizarre own-goal made it 2-0.
The visitors pulled a goal back, but further goals from Jonathan Drury, Luke Tyler and Elliot Drury gave Chishill a 5-1 half-time lead.
The rout was completed in the second half with goals from Jon Hodge, and two from substitute Peter Jackson.
This Saturday Chishill are at home to promotion rivals Elsworth.
