TIGERS roared from the off in this one-sided match, with excellent passing and good play in every department.

Melbourn's set pieces proved too much for the visitors and Charlie Webber soon notched the first of his two goals in the seventh minute.

Rebecca Brooker and Ben Breeze then set Webber up for number two.

Breeze then grabbed his own with a fine strike on the half-hour mark.

The home sides fourth came after Will Thompson's in-swinging corner deflected in off a Bassingbourn defender.

Greg Cattley was praised for his contribution, as was man-of-the-match Aaron Gott, whose display in defence kept Melbourn in pole position throughout.

WITH a long mid-season break and a series of postponed matches, the Panthers finally blew away the cobwebs with an entertaining home win.

Pin Green went ahead early on, when a mix-up in the Panthers defence led to an attempted clearance looping over keeper Nick Thompson and into the Melbourn net.

The Panthers recovered well, with Patrick Hopper and Sam Webb pressurising the Pin Green defence.

But it was Alex Martin who finally made the breakthrough by converting a Byron Lawrence corner to level the scores after 20 minutes.

Melbourn then applied the pressure and proceeded to play some very confident and assured football to take the lead.

A Byron Lawrence free-kick hit the woodwork, with the rebound falling to Patrick Hopper, who coolly slotted home.

Hopper then added a third, with a tremendous shot from outside the area.

And minutes before half-time, a blistering Lawrence free-kick sent the home team into the break 4-1 up.

Melbourn started the second-half much like the first, with Toby Jackson threatening the Pin Green goal twice in rapid succession.

But Pin Green had other ideas, and pulled the game back to 4-2 through a well-taken free-kick. At this point the match really started to take off, with Sam Webb immediately replied for the Panthers to make it 5-2.

Pin Green always looked fast and dangerous on the break, and made life very uncomfortable for Melbourn by pulling back two goals.

But they finally ran out of time, to leave relieved Panthers bagging the three points and moving back to fourth in the table.
