ROYSTON Town Reserves will look to continue their change in fortunes on Saturday, and if results go their way, they could move off from the foot of their division for the first time this season.

The Crows have occupied bottom spot of the South Midlands Reserve Division Two East since September, with seven straight defeats setting a worrying tone.

However, as a result of the club's shake-up, it is not only the first team that have experienced a change in fortunes, with the reserves now looking for their fourth win on the bounce when they travel to Ampthill Town Reserves this weekend.

And manager Kevin Wilson believes they can, with his eyes set firmly on the three points.

He said: "After beating the league's top sides in recent weeks, I would like to think our game with Ampthill is one we should be looking to win.

"Since all the changes at the club, there seems to be a different air to the whole place.

"The clubhouse is buzzing, the training ground is well attended, people are coming down to watch, and matches are being won.

"Royston Town Football Club now has a winning mentality throughout, and that can only be beneficial to everyone connected with the club.

"On the playing front we are a lot stronger than any time I can remember, and that's from the A team right through to the reserves and first team, which from our point of view, can be shown by our recent run of good form."

Wilson also praised the performances of striker Dave McMurrough, who since losing his place in the Royston first team, has been scoring for fun, which in turn will have alerted first team manager Paul Attfield.

Wilson said: "Dave's been playing very well and his goals are really the icing on the cake.

"He's a manager's dream with his goals, all round contribution and work rate - I'll be speaking to Paul about him very soon."

And with the first team's rise from the bottom of the South Midlands Division One on everyone's minds, it should not be too long before the reserves make similar strides.

"If the first team return to the Premier Division, followed by another successful year for the A team and similar promotion for ourselves it could be a good year!" said Wilson.
