Richard Temple says there is a ‘great buzz’ around Royston Cricket Club as they approach the halfway stage of the season.
The Crows had another week to remember with all five teams winning and maintaining five separate league title challenges.
Four of the five Royston teams sit top of their respective divisions at present and club secretary Temple is ecstatic with the season to date.
Temple told the Crow: “It’s been a fantastic start to the season. We are almost at the halfway stage of the season now and all five teams still have the chance of winning their league.
“The first team are on a great run and have not lost since August last year.
“There’s a great buzz about the place at the moment and everyone is enjoying their cricket.”
The terrific week began with a 22-run win for the U11s over Cokenach.
An opening stand of 30 by Royston’s Alex Moss and Sean Tyrrell set the foundation for the win.
The U10s defeated Saffron Walden by 37 runs with a man of the match performance from Casper Alliott, keeping wicket for the first time.
At the weekend, the first team had a superb eight-wicket success over promotion rivals Great Chishill, with Rob Gill hitting his maiden century for the club.
Paul Miller also struck an unbeaten half-century and Matt Gillham took four wickets.
They next host mid-table Barrington at Therfield Recreation Ground on Saturday.
The 2nds had a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Comberton with skipper Bonham Harper taking three wickets and scoring 34 not out with the bat.
Mark Harper also chipped in with 37 not out.
The 3rds capped off a fine weekend with a six-wicket triumph over Cokenach.
Reeve Robin took four wickets as Cokenach were bowled out for 98.
Jamie Judge hit 32 and Ryan Judge 58 not out as the Crows reached their victory target in a little over 16 overs.
