Cambridge United's good recent form continued on Saturday with a rare away win, 3-1 at Aldershot.

The victory was all the more impressive since United fought back from 1-0 down at half-time.

But young defender Michael Morrison equalised from a corner just after the restart.

Courtney Pitt then took advantage of a misunderstanding in the Aldershot defence to score 10 minutes later, and Craig Westcarr sealed the victory for the U's after 74 minutes, heading home after a Ritchie Hanlon screamer hit the bar.

An understandably delighted manager Rob Newman described the second half as "our best 45 minutes of the season", and also revealed that contract talks had started with current members of the squad.

He said: "I've spoken to a few players about contracts this week and, hopefully, I'll get a few answers next week so we can announce that they've signed for next season and I'll be speaking to more players next week."

Meanwhile, fans will be relieved to hear that young defender Adam Davies is resting at home after his traumatic injury during the win against Exeter.

Davies was struck in the throat and went down with breathing difficulties, requiring 22 minutes of treatment on the pitch.

A reminder that as much help as possible is needed for the Abbey Aid concerts at the end of May.

A good turnout at the concerts could provide United with a transfer budget for all of next season.

United play two games over the Easter period.

On Good Friday they are at home to York City in a 7.45pm kick-off and travel to Kidderminster on Easter Monday.
