GREAT Chishill held a surprise presentation for three of its retiring officers who, between them, have clocked up 132 years of service.

Cricket club president Peter Wiseman presented Des Manning, John Manning and Stephen Saunders with engraved clocks to thank them for their service.

They were also given life-long membership of the club.

Des held the office of treasurer for 64 years, John was chairman for 39 years, and Stephen was club secretary for 29 years.

The presentation, which was attended by about 70 club members, took place at The Pheasant pub and was organised by current chairman Andrew Drury.

Mr Drury said: "We felt that this was such a unique milestone in the club's history and it deserved recognition.

"Des, John and Steve had no idea that the presentation was to honour them and they were truly taken aback.
