AT 126-3 Great Chishill looked to be heading for a good total against Saffron Walden III on Saturday but then Sam Stoop joined his captain Angus Gent at the crease and the pair added 238 in an unbroken partnership for the fourth wicket to take the visitors to a formidable 364 from their allotted 45 overs.

Both Gent and Stoop hit centuries with Gent finishing on 124 not out and Stoop unbeaten and only eight runs behind his skipper, and in reply Saffron Walden were never really in the hunt.

Great Chishill used eight bowlers with Adam Wright's 2-17 the pick as the home side were left stranded on 199-7 when the overs ran out.

Great Chishill II were also in action against Saffron Walden on Saturday, this time against the town's fourth team.

Set a target of 191 to win, Chishill got off to a fine start when Kirk Chilton powered his way to 58 and despite a wobble in the middle order, Steve Gardner (19) and Jason Coombs (14) saw their side home with a sensible innings.

Ed Hanson marked his return with an accurate spell which brought him two wickets and when Don Chilton removed the dangerous Dorren for 86, Chishill were able to restrict their visitors to less than 200.

In the CCA Twenty20 Cup on Sunday, Great Chishill seemed to be heading out of the competition with Dullingham needing just four off the last over for victory with three wickets in hand.

The visitors turned to Sam Stoop to bowl the last over and the all-rounder responded with a hat-trick to send his side through to the quarter finals in style.
