Steeple Morden (139-5) beat Wilbrahams II (138) by five wickets.

STEEPLE Morden produced another good performance to defeat Wilbrahams seconds by five wickets.

The visitors won the toss and decided to bat first and although Jack Tidey a Hugo Christie took three wickets between them the runs kept coming.

Andy Wilson (1-14) took the fourth wicket thanks to a good catch on the boundary by Bob Dix and the introduction of Martin Osborne (10-6-17-3) put Morden back in control when he had Tippen 27 well caught at slip by Tim Tidey.

At the other end part-time bowler Max Carlton (10-1-37-1) did a fine job before Tidey (8-2-28-2) and Christie (6-0-28-3) returned to finish off Wilbrahams for 138 all out.

In reply Morden made the usual bad start slumping to 15-2.

Max Calton and Mark Newland led a recovery before Newland fell for 7.

Andy Smith and Tidey soon fell, leaving Steeple 75-5 with the game in balance, before Bob Dix (10no) joined Calton and rotated the strike to put pressure on the bowlers with rain never far away.

Calton (88no) launched into some big hitting taking Morden to victory with 13 overs to spare and just minutes before a heavy down pour.
