Melbourn 2nds’ up and down campaign in Herts Summer League Division 3 continued as they fell to a 12-2 defeat at Potters Bar 2nds.
Melbourn has been second in the table, but this defeat sees them slip to fourth.
Dan Easton (1) began well, exploiting his opponents’ deep positioning with drops to win his opening game. However, the Bar player was extremely patient and very fit and this proved the key as Easton slowed up markedly as he fell to a 3-1 defeat.
Kate Bradshaw (3) also took her opening game by exploiting spaces at the front of the court, before her opponent got his legs moving and came back to win 3-1. Meanwhile, Jan Brynjolffssen (2) was failing to come to terms with a player looking to attack as he subsided to a 3-0 loss.
Skipper Brynjolffssen said: “We were outplayed, to be honest. We need to get back to winning ways, but that will be tough as our next two games are against the Divisions top two sides.”
