Melbourn 2nds got back to winning ways in Herts Squash Summer League Division Three as they beat their visitors from Ware, Allenburys Sports and Social Club 1sts, 12-1 last Wednesday.

Gareth Russell (2) was up against a face familiar to the Melbourn players, Bassingbourn resident Nevil Rimes. Russell proved too consistent in his play for Rimes, who struggled with his touch throughout as the Melbourn player won 3-0. Jan Brynjolffssen (3) started comfortably enough, winning his opening game decisively, but had to work much harder from there on as he battled to a 3-1 victory. Dan Easton (1) concluded the evening by winning 3-0, always looking like he had a little bit in hand despite fairly close game scores.

Skipper Brynjolffssen said: “Having lost our previous two matches, we needed the victory. That said, the final score is a little harsh on Allenburys, as a number of the games were very close. We just happened to win most of them.”
