Sportshall athletics grand slam for Greneway

GRENEWAY’S Year 7 and 8 (U12 and U13) sportshall athletics team earned a Grand Slam at the recent North East Herts Secondary Schools’ finals at Royston Leisure Centre.

They came out on top with gold in both boys and girls categories for both age groups – competing in events such as the triple jump, standing long jump, shot putt, speed bounce and running races.

The opposition were very tough – the best in North East Herts with Edwinstree, Ralph Sadleir and Roysia Middle schools. Once again, Greneway reinforced the quality of the athletes in the sports partnership and a superb reflection of consistency and talent. To emphasize the talent in Royston, Roysia were second in the Year 8 Boys competition and third in all the others.

This capped a superb week for the Royston school with their Year 5 and 6 sportshall athletics team winning the U11 Championship.

All the teams will now represent the district in the Herts School Games Finals on March 20.
