Royston Town beat near neighbours 4-0 Biggleswade Town in a contest they dominated at Garden Walk on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from Scott Bridges, a brace from Adam Marriott and Michael Baulk’s first goal for the club clinched the three points.

Steve Castle’s side had the better of proceedings throughout and went ahead through captain Bridges who claimed the opening goal on 17 minutes after two deflections in a crowded box.

A minute later the home side doubled the lead after Lee Chappell fed in-form striker Marriott who drilled home an early low shot that may have surprised Waders keeper Patrick Sinfield.

The 17-year-old Sinfield has had a week he won’t forget after his excellent debut against champions Hereford FC at Langford Road on Tuesday evening.

The talented teenager had been praised by boss Chris Nunn before kick-off after being plucked from the academy but is still very much a work in progress – as any callow youngster would be when thrust into the maelstrom of men’s football.

Sinfield brought down the lively Marriott on 63 minutes to give referee Neil Morris no option but to award a penalty.

Despite theatrics on the line in attempting to put the former Stevenage striker off his spot kick, the prolific forward slotted home calmly to make it 3-0.

Earlier, the match kicked off after a respectfully observed minute silence for Crows stalwart Derek Noades who passed away recently.

As if in tribute Castle’s Crows put on an excellent show which saw them outplay a leggy Waders side who looked to be suffering a reaction from the Herculean effort they put in against the Bulls in midweek.

As the clock ticked down the home side made it four after substitute Baulk, on for Rohdell Gordon, struck his first Crows goal on 78 minutes to seal a dominant performance and three deserved points in front of 256 spectators.
