ROYSTON Town will be looking to wipe out the memory of last season's FA Cup nightmare when they face Harwich & Parkeston at Garden Walk, on Saturday.

Harwich finished second from bottom in the Ridgeons League Premier Division last season, but that should provide little comfort for new boss Phil Snowden.

The Crows went out of last year's competition against Clacton Town at the first hurdle. The 2-1 win proved to be Clacton's only win of the season as they finished bottom of the Premier Division.

They gained just one point, finishing 31 points adrift, and conceded 179 goals in 42 games, as well as losing their other five cup games.

If the Crows are successful in Saturday's extra-preliminary round, they will receive £500 prize money and have another home game against Ridgeons League opposition in the preliminary round - either Division One Walsham-le-Willows or Premier Division outfit Leiston a fortnight later.

Harwich started the season with a 2-1 win at King's Lynn Reserves on Saturday before suffering an 8-1 home hammering at home by Ipswich Wanderers on Tuesday.

If Saturday's game is a draw, the Crows face a long Tuesday night trip to the Essex coast for the replay.

If a definite result is obtained, and Haringey do not draw at Bowers & Pitsea, the Crows will travel to White Hart Lane on Tuesday to face Haringey,

The north London side finished one spot below Royston in 19th place last season, but were reprieved from relegation after three sides were promoted to the Ryman League.

Snowden, who missed Tuesday's 1-0 home defeat to Bishop's Stortford Swifts because of holiday commitments, has added four players to his squad as they look to avoid a repeat of last season's relegation battle.

Striker James Levell and centre-back Alan Reid are both based at Bassingbourn Barracks, and have looked impressive during the Crows' pre-season friendlies.

Winger Kojo Ofori has followed Snowden from Enfield Town, where the new Crows boss was assistant manager, and has also impressed.

However, he will need to improve his discipline after being sent-off for head-butting Cambridge City defender Craig Pope during City's 2-1 win at Garden Walk.

The Crows are waiting for international clearance for Spanish player Juan Miguel Alazabes, as the diminutive midfielder is unable to sign for the club until the Spanish FA have granted him permission.
