CROWS manager Phil Snowden is hoping for some festive cheer - by picking up the points over the Christmas period.

Snowden said the six on offer were attainable and was looking for his men to bounce back from their 6-0 defeat at Harefield.

He said: "Despite our loss at the weekend the lads played very well and for the majority of the match we more than matched a very good side.

"Our five-match unbeaten run came to an end, but hopefully this is just a blip and we can continue to pick up points. The effort has been superb lately and I can't ask for much more.

"To lose by such a scoreline is obviously disappointing, but I have to say that I was very happy with how the lads played. The score did not reflect the way they played and even the opposition agreed with that."

Despite what the scoreline suggests, The Crows can take heart that they came away from one of the leagues strongest teams feeling a sense of injustice and with a bit more luck could have picked up a point.

The improvement is a stark contrast to the start of the season where Snowden believes they would have given up against one of the premier division's top sides.

He said: "Earlier on we would have probably accepted defeat. But we have come away from a very good side believing that we should have had a point.

"We missed a penalty and that turned the game. Who knows what would have happened if we had scored?"

On Saturday Royston face Aylesbury Vale at Garden Walk.

Snowden said: "Vale are in a similar position to ourselves so it promises to be a good game."

Victory will give the Crows a boost ahead of their trip to Welwyn Garden City on December 30.

Snowden will be hoping his side can exact revenge for a 4-2 defeat in September.

He said: "We were unlucky to come away from the match without a point.

"It was a tough game but we should have done better.

"We let slip a two-goal cushion, but I'm confident that the team has improved.

"There's six points up for grabs and I will be a happy man if we can get four of them - and I think we can.

"Our unbeaten run has come to an end, but hopefully the next two games will give us the chance to get another run going and I believe we can do well.
