FOXTON made it six wins on the bounce with a comfortable victory against Brampton, on Saturday.

The game started off quite frantically with both teams looking to get settled and create some sort of hold on the game. Foxton had beaten

Brampton away 4-0 earlier on in the season but since then the away team had grown in confidence and were a team capable of beating anyone in the league.

With this in mind Foxton pushed strongly from the start to take the lead and came close a few times before scoring their first goal in the 20th minute

Makeshift forward Barry Webber the scorer with an excellently taken near post header from a Darren Chamberlain cross.

The goal settling the home team and from that point on they were playing some attractive, composed, flowing football.

Following sustained pressure, Foxton then doubled their tally as Webber scored his second after half an hour played.

A throw from the impressive Andy Gray was first flicked on by Webber to Duncan Handscombe, who deftly controlled the ball back into Webber's path to blast home.

Foxton still were not finished however and kept pressuring the Brampton defence which led to numerous opportunities to score, the best of these fell mainly to Handscombe whose hard work was nearly rewarded but was unfortunate not to score with both an acute angled header and a delicate chip over the keeper.

There was also a moment of controversy as Barry Webber saw his shot clawed back from over the goal line during a goalmouth scramble, only to be ruled out by the referee, robbing him of his hat trick.

Foxton came back out after the interval looking to carry on their first half performance.

The beginning of the period seemed much of the same with Foxton attacking, but as the half progressed Foxton who were dominating became lacklustre in their effort which allowed Brampton a foothold in the match.

Although they never looked like threatening the well marshalled defence, led by captain Ally Flack and Gray, they still gave the home team a fright as a powerful shot from outside the box bounced off the crossbar with ten minutes remaining.

Foxton now face a tough test as they travel next week to top of the table Hundon who are yet to be beaten this season.
