THRIPLOW seconds faced fellow strugglers Romsey Town, and thanks to some excellent play from Kevin Scully ran out worthy winners.
In a nightmare start for Thriplow, Romsey were 25-0 after only two overs before Ali King took their first wicket by removing Dennis, and Richie Turner followed suit by removing the dangerous Harris.
A run-out and further wickets for Barron and Turner kept Thriplow in the game, but the classy Steele, who was the pick of the Romsey batsmen, proved hard to dislodge, and kept the score ticking over.
However, Thriplow made the breakthrough when wicket-keeper Arriens caught Romsey captain Andy Owen.
Wickets then began to fall regularly and Carr (2-40), Turner (2-41) and Barron (4-21) all played their part in ensuring Thriplow recovered from their awful start with Romsey finishing on 175.
Thriplow openers Carr and Goodacre provided a steady start, before Goodacre (8) was run out after attempting a quick single in a bid to pick up the pace.

Duncan Walker (17) then struck up a solid partnership with Carr and kept Thriplow within touching distance.
However, just as he was beginning to gain some fluency he was removed by an excellent Romsey catch.
Carr (34), Jackson (8) and Dabnor (2), fell in relatively quick succession and Romsey clearly believed the match was theirs for the taking with 66 needed off the last nine overs.
However, Kevin Scully and Jon Collins had other ideas, and they set about the run chase in organised fashion.
Collins (16 not out) and Scully (65 not out) worked well and put them to the sword with Scully by hitting two glorious sixes off the first two balls of the penultimate over to help secure Thriplow's first victory of the season, with five wickets to spare.
