ROYSTON'S bowlers continue to shine in the Letchworth & District competitions with Don Sheriff skipping the club to victory in the triples.

Alongside Peter Graves and Mel Flack, Sheriff helped see off Roebuck BC in a comfortable 25-13 win.

The trio of Len Payne, Mick O'Flanagan, and Peter Adams registered a 17-4 victory over Roebuck, before joining Laurie Ramsay for fours action and a comprehensive 23-17 win against the Three Horseshoes.

However, a Riverain four gave Sheriff, Keith Dockree, Sean Young and Matt Coppen a run for their money, and took the lead on the 18th end.

However, Royston responded well and bounced back with an 18-13 win.

In the same competition, Royston's Terry Holland, Stan Whitehouse, Mel Flack, and skip Bob Porter, had a tight game against their Roebuck opponents, with their rivals edging in front on the 21st end, with an 18-17 victory.

Royston's final four of Brian Pepper, Charles Gifford, Mike Randall, and skip Rodney Dean, were out-bowled in their match against Roebuck, and crashed to a 24-6 defeat.

Elsewhere, in the Meldreth & District League, Royston claimed a narrow win as Will Martin guided his team of Jo Bannerman and Alan Redpath to a 20-8 victory, which allowed Royston to secure a 67-59 win, and gain 4.5 points to Melbourn's 2.5.

The Royston Vets chalked up two impressive wins, with Margaret Ward, Don Ward, and Mel Cooper getting the club off to a brilliant start in a 4TMixed game against Buntingford with a decisive 30-8 victory.

Coupled with the George Mayoss rink coasting home by 15 shots, Royston won by 85 shots to 45.

They then saw off Hitchin with a 73-67 victory.

Royston also picked up a valuable win in the L&D Cairns Cup, with an impressive 72-56 win over the Three Horseshoes of Stevenage.

Another important win followed as the club dismissed Watford-based Owls in the third round of the Inter Club Team Ten.

On rink one, Matt Coppen in the singles coasted home by 21 shots to 10, while on rink three, Simon Lee and Stewart Brown, just missed out with a narrow 14-12 defeat.

Rink five saw Terry Hollands, Laurie Ramsay, and skip Mick O'Flanagan, in the triples, romp home with a 23-9 victory, while in the fours on rink two, Brian Pepper, Don Sheriff, Mel Flack, and Peter Adams, had little trouble and outplayed their opponents and eased home with a 30-13 victory.
