ROYSTON Town Cricket Club hope to expand their inaugural seven-a-side tournament to 12 teams next year, with Oliver Heald MP expected to take part in a team captained by his son.

This year saw the first such limited over tournament with Cambourne, TTP and the eventual winners Babaraham among the teams taking part as the teams alternated between all weather and traditional grass pitches.

Mr Heald was delighted to present the trophy and a 200 purse to the winners and the club believed around 500 was raised on the day, with the money going towards Mr Heald's chosen charity The Friends of Royston Hospital and the club's charity Noah's Ark Orphanage in South Africa.

The club would like to mention its thanks to the umpires and scorers in addition to Mrs Gwynne and Mrs Paxton for their marshalling of the charity tombola.
