TRING ATH 2 (T Gibbs, A Humphreys) ROYSTON TOWN 0 MARK Saggers admitted to being disappointed with his side's display as they suffered their eighth Spartan South Midlands League defeat of the season, on Saturday. "We only played for the final quarter of the game, which was very disappointing," said the Royston boss. "We played really well in the final 25 minutes, and had them pinned in their half. "It took far too long for us to get going, and even then we didn't manage to create any clear-cut chances." After a brief flurry at the start of the game from the visitors, Tring took the lead in the 26th minute with an excellent long-range strike from Trevor Gibbs, which gave Barry White in the Crows' goal little chance. Within two minutes of the restart, Athletic put the game beyond the visitors. Trevor Gibbs and Liam Meenan had shots blocked, and when the ball fell to Andy Humphreys he turned superbly on the edge of the area and shot past the motionless White. The visitors had plenty of possession during the final stage of the game, but Tom Vincent in the home goal was never really troubled, and although Dave McMurrough replaced Sam Worthington with 10 minutes remaining in an attempt to liven up the attack, they never looked likely to prevent Tring extending their unbeaten run to 12 games. With the Crows having scored only 15 goals in 17 games, Saggers is expected to look at a forward currently on Histon's books during the week. Royston face another away trip on Saturday when they will hope to complete a league double against high-flying Aylesbury Vale, while on Tuesday evening the Crows host basement side Haringey Borough, kick off 7.45pm. Crows: B White, P Chappell, R Cannon, S Snowden, J Hollingsworth, P Flack, L Rogers, M Saunders, S Worthington (D McMurrough), T Galvin, J McMurrough. Unused subs: C Welstead, M Thorogood.
