IT WAS a disappointing day in the County Cup as both under-14 sides bowed out at the quarter-final stage. The Knights were beaten 2-0 at Ware Youth, while the Saints lost by the same score at Bishop's Stortford. In the mini soccer competition both the under-10 Templars and Crusaders produced excellent performances to overcome strong opposition from Stevenage Borough. Two goals from Mark Rogers gave the Templars a 2-0 win over Borough Reds, while Elena Pisapia and George Higginson were also both on target twice which, along with an Alex Close goal, earned the ever improving Crusaders a 5-1 win over Borough Yellows. The under-10 Knights and Lancers also maintained their recent improved form as they both drew their games. The Knights and Bishop Stortford Jets fought out a goalless draw, while the Lancers drew 2-2 with Bishop's Stortford United. In Division Four of the under-11 league, a Conor Clarke goal was not enough to prevent the Knights finishing 3-1 losers at Sawbridgeworth. The under-12 Templars returned to winning ways in a closely fought match with Fairlands Youth. With Henry Dann, Alex Canter, Joe Parker and Ben Jones all on target the Templars finally took the points with a 4-3 victory. In Division Four, goals from Luke Bracken and Richard Bailey could not prevent the Lancers slipping to a narrow 3-2 defeat at the hands of Stevenage Colts. A Reece Glasgow hat-trick was the highlight for the under-13 Crusaders as they overcame Stevenage Colts 4-1 in their Division Three clash. Top scorer Callum Bishop was also on target for the Crusaders. The under-13 Knights recent run of good form came to an end as they found visiting Potton too strong on the day and finished on the wrong end of a 6-0 score line. The under-15 Templars recorded one of their best results of the season as two goals from Josh Furness and one each from Mickey Kostik and David Beedell gave them a 4-1 win at Stevenage Borough Reds. The under-15 Crusaders will be disappointed in having only a second half TJ Body penalty to show for their efforts in a 2-1 defeat by Sandy. The under-16 Templars failed to reach the last four of the League Cup, as despite goals from Oliver Lee, Brendan Casey and James Puttrell they were beaten 5-3 by Bishop Stortford. The under-17 Crusaders put their recent indifferent form behind them as they recorded an emphatic 5-1 win at home to Bishop's Stortford Jets. Harry Holland was on target twice, while Ross Cook, Grant Littlewood and Joe Greenland also got their names on the scoresheet.
