Royston Town have confirmed the departure of speedy winger Rhys Hoenes for Vanarama National League South side St Albans City.

Hoenes, who completes a second spell at Garden Walk, was a big contributor to the Crows’ run to the Southern League Division One Central play-offs last season, scoring 16 goals and winning countless penalties.

On the capture of Hoenes, Saints boss Ian Allinson said: “His pace is frightening and it’s an element which we lacked last season. We’ve been following his progress for a while and we know he had more than a few options on offer to him for next season but we’re delighted he chose to come to St Albans City.

“We’re adding some real quality to the side now and looking to build towards a bright future for the club.”
