ROYSTON Town manager Paul Attfield said he was delighted with his team's "magnificent" performance as they overcame Tipton Town in the FA Vase.

The Crows are just three ties away from a trip to Wembley after progressing to the fifth round of the FA Vase on Saturday with a 2-1 win after extra time and Attfield said that if his players believe they can go all the way then they have got a chance.

Attfield said: "The lads were once again magnificent. Yes we struggled to pass the ball, yes it wasn't always pretty, yes we had to do a lot of defending and yes maybe we were a tad fortunate to win the game but this is quite a daunting experience for such a young group of players.

"I think physically the St Albans City midweek game (Royston had beaten St Albans City in the Herts Senior Cup last Tuesday) had taken a lot out of them and this was a historic day for the club.

"Never before has the club got to the fifth round and in front of near on 400 spectators against what I thought was a very well organised and quite talented side everything was difficult to cope with.

"The effort was always evident and at this stage moments of quality win games and we supplied both of those moments.

"I'm chuffed for the players and everyone at the club and we can go into the next round with absolutely no pressure on our shoulders. A home tie is perfect and if the lads can really believe they can do it who knows.
