ROYSTON Town FC manager Paul Attfield will be keeping check on future first team stars when the club hosts a summer soccer school.

The school will run throughout August, for boys and girls from seven-16 of all abilities, at Newmarket Road playing fields, with the programme giving youngsters the chance to learn new skills and coaching tips in a fun and enjoyable environment.

The school will be run by first-team players from both the men's and ladies' teams, all of whom are fully qualified coaches.

First-team regulars Lewis Endacott, Liam Beaumont, and Craig Hammond, who will no doubt be passing on goal-scoring tips, will be involved throughout the week.

Manager Attfield will also be involved at the end of each of the three weeks, with former Republic of Ireland and Tottenham player, and now Royston coach, Tony Galvin available to pass on his expertise.

Attfield said: "The club is using the soccer school as a benchmark to celebrate the amalgamation of both the youth and senior set-ups as one joint club, and we hope it will be the start of an exciting venture for the future.

"The aim is to build links between the club and the town's youngsters. We want to contribute to the community and help develop young players."

The programme will run for three weeks, with the seven-nine-year-old sessions from Monday, August 4-Friday, August 8. Sessions for 10-12-year-olds will run from Monday, August 11-Friday, August 15, with sessions for 13-16-year-olds running from Monday, August 18-Friday, August 22.

Each week will cost £65 per child, and will run from 9am-3pm each day.

Activities include passing, dribbling, tackling, and heading exercises, defending and attacking drills, goalkeeping tuition, mini World Cup tournaments, penalty competitions, and an introduction to Futsal, with medals presented at the end of each week.

Attfield said: "We're expecting the demand to be quite high - and who knows, some of these youngsters could well be future Royston players!"

Application forms have been distributed throughout the town, and can also be collected from The Crow office. For more details contact 07926 522207.
