A GOOD opening spell was not enough to prevent Royston slipping to defeat on Saturday.

The visitors dominated the first 10 minutes of the game and were unfortunate not to score from shots at goal from Heather Polge and Oli Murfitt.

Vauxhall Chiltern came back and scored after some confusion in the Royston goal.

Royston picked up their game and this finally paid off when they won a short corner and a good set piece paid off when Polge passed out to Gemma Hoad who found Lisa Thompson on the left of the D who blasted the ball into the back of the Vauxhall Net.

The second half saw Royston have several chances at goal but Vauxhall Chiltern made the break and scored their second but solid defending from Teresa Smith, Sarah Gourd and Sarah Holland prevented them scoring.
