ROYSTON Town Reserves crashed to their second defeat in as many weeks with a disappointing 4-1 defeat to Ampthill Town Reserves.

On a blizzard swept Garden Walk pitch, The Crows started the brightest, with a number of chances falling their way.

Ashley Townsend eventually put the ball in the visitor's net, however his chance was ruled out for offside.

After a slow first half, Royston came out again in determined mood, with Townsend instrumental.

And it was the powerful striker who finally broke the deadlock when he fired home a well-taken strike.

However, The Crows failed to push on and despite seeing more of the play, they were hit with an Ampthill leveller following a long ball and headed finish.

The goal led to a complete Royston collapse, and with the visitors sensing that there was more to follow they replied with three more just before the final whistle.

Royston Reserves did see off of league rivals Langford Reserves in midweek, with new signing Aaron Welch turning the ball home following a goalmouth scramble. The Crows had keeper Sam Booth to thank late on, with the youngster making a number of key saves to keep the Langford attack at bay.
