Royston Men I 2 Winchmore & Enfield I 4

Despite controlling much of the match with Winchmore & Enfield, Royston still found themselves leaving empty-handed.

Royston began the match brightly, and dominated the first 15 minutes of the match with some fast paced attacking. However, Royston failed to convert their opportunities and it was Enfield who took the lead as they gradually got into the match.

The away side had a second spell in the ascendancy before half time, but a crucial opener remained elusive.

The hosts came out strongly for the second half and soon extended the lead by a further two goals giving them a commanding advantage.

The visitors eventually settled and once again proved a threat in final third of the pitch but this time netted twice with strikes by Owen Russell and Dave Barker.

Royston's charge proved too late in the match as Enfield secured the win with a counter attack shortly before the final whistle.

Royston Men II 1 St Albans I 0

In a very tightly fought contest, Royston played one of their best games of hockey all season.

It was 0-0 at the break but in the second half Royston made their pressure count with a great one-two between Nick Freeman and Darren Hicks with Nick scoring the only goal of the game.

Royston Men III 1 Luton Vagrants 6

Luton Vagrants took the lead early on from a short corner, following a sustained period of pressure.

Royston responded in kind when Tim Yow's driven short corner strike was deflected in by Iain Lewis, his first goal for the club.

Luton took a decisive lead in the closing stages of the first half, twice capitalising on defensive errors to finish.

A reprise of the Yow-Lewis short corner routine appeared to have crossed the line to put Royston back in touch, but the goal wasn't awarded.

Spurred on by their close shave, Luton scored three times in a 10-minute spell, despite the best efforts of Royston 'keeper and man-of-the-match Chris Berry.

Royston Men IV 4 Hertford III 2

Excellent victory for the fourth XI with goals from James Arnold, Nigel Phillips and two from Paul Bloomfield.

Royston Men V 0 Hertford IV 4

Royston's youth development side came up against a very strong and experienced Hertford side, but in spite of this, short corners were really the only difference between the performances.

Once again Royston's youngsters battled hard right through the game with man-of-the-match Josh Montague Fuller working well with Josh Hughes on the right to create some good breaks.

Bailey Farmer continued to show increasing skills at left half, linking well with Olly Stewart. Two very well struck short corners early in the game dented Royston's confidence, another just before half time flattered the home team a little.

After some excellent saves from Michael Priest, Royston finally succumbed to another short corner late in the second half. Royston once again had many positives to take from the game, but the first league win still eludes them.
