TWO late goals ensured that Royston were left empty-handed in their first Five Counties Ladies League.

The hosts took a few minutes to settle into the match but after 15 minutes they managed to soak up the pressure with some great defending from Liza Botha and Kerry Alexander.

Just before half-time Harpenden managed to convert a short corner to take the lead.

The second half started well with some good movement from Ruth Askham, Karen McKay and Denise Underwood in midfield.

Royston had some attacking play but could not make the breakthrough and towards the end of the match Royston started to get tired and allowed Harpenden add two goals.
