This weekend also sees the club holding its very own "groundforce day" at the Recreation Ground in Therfield.

Club members will be pitching in and carrying out maintenance and improvements to the facilities so that the ground is in tip top condition for the start of the 07/08 season.

This will be followed up by the Colts Open Day at Therfield on April 28 which gives kids a chance to experience some cricket.

There will be a barbeque, drinks and club kit for sale and various games set up for the colts.

Youngsters in the under-15 category will be divided into teams for a hardball match while there will be a quick cricket game for the younger players as well as a practise net.

The season kicks off on May 5 when Royston host local rivals Foxton at Therfield.

- Royston CC are looking to recruit a qualified coach to work with the youth team on a Sunday morning throughout the season. For further information contact Russell Bacon on 07968 554142.
