ROYSTON finished the summer season on a high on Sunday with a 80-65 win over Eternit.

In a four rinks of mixed triples friendly, Pat Smith scored seven in two rinks to trump Eternit’s L Clarke.

The last Club Final – the Mixed Pairs – was held last Wednesday and saw Pam Keating and Derek Goodwin take on Shirley Pawson and Laurie Ramsey.

In a tight encounter, there was only one shot between the two sides on the 16th end but it was Shirley and Laurie who notched seven shots in the last four ends to claim a 18-10 victory.

The last throws of the dice were enacted on Saturday with a fun game of the President versus vice President. With the weather staying bright with just a tinge of chill in the air, the game was enjoyed by all.

At the end, it was the lady president who won by the winning margin of 125 shots to the vice president’s 114 shots.

After the game there was a buffet meal followed by the Trophy Presentation to the club competition winners.

The president, Shirley Pawson, thanked all of those who had helped run the club throughout the year. She congratulated the ladies for reaching the National Finals at Leamington, and also the men for their endeavours at the National Finals at Worthing.

Congratulations also went to Mick O’Flanagan for winning the L&D Singles, and to Eileen Hyde and Bob Porter for winning the L&D Mixed Pairs.

She also announced that the day’s functions, which included the ‘spider’, and later on an auction of bottles of spirits which raised �2,737 for the Teenage Cancer Trust Appeal.
