PROMOTION is still on the cards for Royston Celtic under-10s as they continue to press for Division One status.

Second-half strikes from Richard Jonas and Lorcan George saw off a determined and physical Broadhall Youth, with Jonas breaking free of his marker and firing a low shot beyond the Broadhall keeper. George all but secured the three points, timing his run to perfection, and slotting home Jonas' cross from the right.

Melbourn Dynamos Panthers under-nines suffered their heaviest defeat of the season with a disappointing 7-0 loss to Hitchin Town Hawks. George Storey was unlucky not to reduce the arrears, as was Tommy Hollway, who both went close for the Panthers. However, the visitors were well in control, despite the best efforts of Luke Eades and player-of-the-match Sam Austin.

Two excellent corners from Jonathan Bowell produced two well taken-goals as Buntingford Cougars under-13s beat Austen Arrowheads 3-2. Bowell provided the ammunition for Jamie Simpson and Scott Caine, who both kept their cool in front of goal. Despite the Arrowheads snatching two quick goals, Harry Clifford clipped in Cougars' third with a confident strike midway through the second half.

Melbourn Dynamos Panthers under-12s slipped up at home against a strong Bedwell Rangers Blues. The Panthers were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty when Jack Court was brought down in the Bedwell area. James Moore and Liam Tidey did their best to put Melbourn in front with some lively play, however the teams went into the interval all square. However, Bedwell soon went in front moments into the second half following a well-worked move, before adding a second late in the half.

A cool finish from Reece Voller opened the scoring for Buntingford Cougars under-10s, before Bedwell Rangers ran riot. Buntingford could do little about the Bedwell equalizer just before half time, and the visitors ran out 7-2 winners.

Two goals apiece from Justin Leavers and Robbie Norman gave Royston Town Colts under-10s A a comfortable 4-0 win at Baldock Templars.Leavers opened the scoring with a brilliant solo strike, and Bradley Calvert, Norman and George Bailey combined for Leavers to nab his second. At the other end Alistair Richardson and Sam Chapman protected Jacob Townsend's goal admirably as Norman nipped in for a third. Leavers then turned provider for Royston's fourth providing Norman with a simple tap in.

Melbourn Dynamos Tigers under-nines had to settle for a share of the points in a 0-0 draw with Hitchin Town Harriers. Henry Beagles and Josh Bates combined well to create a couple of chances for Melbourn, while Josh Hutton in the Tigers goal made a number of quality saves. Player-of-the-match Jack Morley almost turned match winner, but his shot from distance sailed narrowly wide.

In an entertaining game with BSCFC Northolt, despite their best effort Buntingford Cougars under-15s could not snatch a point. Cougars started brightly with Alex West and Liam Harler impressing on the flanks, as their intelligent play threatened to open the visitors' defence. And it was Cougars that broke the deadlock through Scott Piggott. In the second half Northolt came out strong, with keeper Tim Rice on hand to keep them at bay. However, he was beaten following a well-taken a set piece. Northolt then increased their lead with a fine header from a corner, before nabbing a third following a fine individual effort. Cougars hit back with a cool Michael Holland strike.

There was a comfortable 3-0 victory for Royston Town Colts B under-10s over Baldock Templars B. Mackenzie Harris opened the scoring following a great run, with player-of-the-match Danny Mynott doubling the lead just before half-time. In the second half Baldock found Conner Eustace and Alfi Noades in form. At the other end, Thomas McGee completed the win when he slotted home Colts' third.

Buntingford Cougars under-eights Blues and Whites both claimed wins over their Bishop's Stortford opponents. The Whites were soon in front in their game following a well-taken free-kick from Sidney Arnold, before Alex Hewer doubled the Cougars' lead with another strike from outside the box. Luke Garratt added to his season's tally with a third following a nice move through the middle of the park. The Blues also chalked up three goals, the first of which came from a tidy Simon Keogh strike. Frank Bown added a second, with James Savage slotting home a well-worked third. Cougars did concede midway through the second half, but by then the points were all but in the bag.

Edward Atkins and Matthew Foley both hit doubles as Royston Celtic B under-10s overcame Austen Arrowheads 5-1. After pressurising the Austen defence, Atkins and Foley had soon pounced to give Royston a comfortable 2-0 lead at half time. They then added two more shortly after the re-start, with Austen grabbing a well-taken consolation. Royston continued to dominate though, and soon had goal number five with Brandon Hargreaves rolling the ball home.
