ROYSTON came out on top in the in their Meldreth & District League clash, beating Chesterton convincingly 80-65.
The win was much -needed after Royston went down to Coton in the league only days before, winning on only one rink.
On the other three rinks Royston went down by 17 shots as Coton secured a comfortable 73-59 win.
British Junior Singles Under-25 Champion Matt Coppen and Peter Adams took on Abson and Broad of Oak Hill in the County Pairs.
By the end of the 12th end, Coppen and Adams were leading 20-6.
Despite a brief Oak Hill fightback, the Royston pair held on to finish 26-14 winners.
The pair also beat Reid and Crosby of Baldock 27-17.
Elsewhere in the L&D pairs, Len Payne and Mick O'Flanagan met clubmates Sean and Dennis Young.
In a tight game that was not reflected in the scoreline, the Youngs ran out 26-9 winners.
Royston Vets took on Hitchin in a match that went to the wire.
In the end Hitchin managed to keep their nerve and got hom by eight shots, 74-66.
- In the third round of the Cambridge and District league Gilbert Cup, Melbourn beat Sawston 63-57.
This competition is played with two rinks at home and two away.
Rod Sell led the way at home with a seven-shot win to offset a six-shot defeat by Jim Gillings.
Muriel Cooper won away by five shots after playing a steady game, with Peter Dodds hanging on for a draw in a tight match to ensure an overall win by six shots.
The next round is the semi-final against Haddenham.
