TABLE?TENNIS:?The Royston teams were given a break from league action this week with the first round of the NHTTA Cup handicap competition taking place. With three of the Royston teams granted byes, only two were in action. The B team conceded 77 points

TABLE?TENNIS:?The Royston teams were given a break from league action this week with the first round of the NHTTA Cup handicap competition taking place.

With three of the Royston teams granted byes, only two were in action. The B team conceded 77 points to Green Man G from Division Two, and made steady progress to clear the deficit after eight singles games. Yuci Gou gained 48 points, Alf Mills 39, and Mike Malone 19, to give Royston a remarkable 29-point victory.

In contrast the C team conceded 87 points to Bedwell H from Division Three, and were never quite able to retrieve the deficit.

Terry Bailey took 25 points, while Gordon Barnes took a further 23, and Haydn Gowen 22, with Royston losing by 17 points.
