AFTER three years' hard work - and a mountain of paperwork - Royston Tennis Club has been awarded the prestigious Clubmark Accreditation from the Lawn Tennis Association.
Clubmark is the Sport England mark of high quality junior sports clubs and the club will become only the eleventh accredited tennis club in Hertfordshire to be handed the mark.
Clubs awarded Clubmark have seen many tangible benefits such as increased membership and the development of coaches and volunteers.
Club secretary Christine Knight said: "This award and the work put in to achieve it has bought a whole new dimension to Royston Tennis Club.
"The tennis program caters for all ages and abilities and the administration of the club has been put on a professional basis.
"The backing of the Hertfordshire LTA office and staff has been instrumental in bringing the club from a social tennis venue to a well run high quality club for all.
"The club is now ready to embark on a major expansion in size and membership over the next couple of years.
"A big thanks goes to Stuart Long our previous club secretary who laid down the massive groundwork needed to get this award."
