ROYSTON athlete Claire Paxoe finished third at the English Indoor Rowing Championship at the Manchester Velodrome, winning a bronze medal. Claire, 20, completed 2,000m on the Concept 2 Indoor Rower against more than 500 athletes. She raced in the Women's Under-23 heavyweight category and completed the distance in a time of 9 minutes 07.1 seconds. It is the first year the English Indoor Rowing Championship has been held. Formerly known as the North of England Indoor Rowing Championship, the Manchester event, organised by Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club, has grown to become the largest indoor rowing race in the UK after the British Indoor Rowing Championship.
