The third match in Royston and District Angling Club's Evening League fixture was won by guest angler Brian Newman, with a catch of 45 lbs 3oz.

Steve McGuire was second with 31 lbs 13oz, and Mick Rivers third with 15 lbs 13oz.

The final match in the Evening League, on Friday, August 3, promises to be an interesting encounter, with just six points separating the top six places.

The second PC match, at Eternit Angling Club's Rhee Valley Lake, was won by Royston's Dianne Fuller, with a catch of 10 lbs 15oz.

Alan Gypps was second with 7 lbs 1oz, and Royston junior bailiff Ryan Jarvis third with 6 lbs 9oz.

A beginners day for budding anglers will be held at Thriplow Reservoir on Saturday. The water will be open, free, from 10am-5pm.
