THE Royston Rockets were out in force for the third round of the BMX Racing National Summer contest.
Kele Newall got proceedings underway for Royston in his first national race in the six and under class, and finished fourth place in the B final.
In the seven year class A final Josh Peters finished third, with Ted Dalleywater second in the B final, ahead of teammates James King, fourth, and Marmaduke Birt, fifth.
The Rockets' two eight-year riders also did well, with Ethan Vernon claiming a second-place finish and Daniel Blanche eighth.
In the nine-year class, Bradan Blanche took seventh place in the B final while Aaron Dalleywater finished eighth in the A final, a position Ethan Lewis also occupied in the 10 year class B final.
The 11-12 year class saw James Handleigh finish in third place, which maintains his challenge for the number one plate at the end of the season.
In the 19+ men's class, Jonathan Roberts finished second in the B final, while in the junior female section, Katie Roberts continued her recent fine form taking home a second-place finish in the A final.
The masters class (30+) saw Lee Alexander return to the track after a long lay-off, and a podium position in the A final looked likely until a slide in the last corner dropped him down to eighth.
In the elite class more success came Royston's way, with Richard Townsend winning the class B final and Laurence Mapp taking third place in the A final to continue his defence of the national title.
The next event on the Rockets' calendar is an inter regional race between the Midlands and East Anglia, which is being hosted by Mansfield BMX Club on May 11.
