REED have already started preparations for the new season and will be aiming for another successful year, following promotion.

A thriving colts section continues to be a key factor in the achievements of the three adult sides that play in the Saracens Hertfordshire League.

The first team will now compete in Herts League Division One, with the second team remaining in Division Seven, while the third team move up to Division 11 following a promotion of their own for the second successive season.

James Heslam will captain the first team again, with Andy Young vice-captain, and Jason Archer and Peter Baker continuing as second and third team captains respectively.

The first team will be the first village club to play in the top flight of the Saracens Hertfordshire League.

The club have strengthened the squad with the addition of Joe Curk, a 21-year-old all-rounder from Australia.

The talented Curk, who also plays for Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, will link up with Reed to broaden his cricketing education.

The club has found him a job for the summer which will fund his flights and pay for his time living in England.

It is hoped this may be the first of several years that Curk spends with Reed.

Heslam said: "We are really excited about this season and all our teams hope to capitalise on a successful end of season last year.

"We are very keen to welcome Joe to Reed and make him feel part of the set up.

"In addition we are also keen to attract any other new players from the area interested in joining, whether it is at first, second, or third team level."
