Reed v Potters Bar

Saracens Herts League

DESPITE a horrendous start when losing influential openers Baz Curtis and James Heslam in the first over, Reed outplayed Potters Bar in another rain-affected game.

The fall of the early wickets brought Chris Jackson and Tom Fulk together and in no time they were stroking the ball to all corners of the ground.

The partnership produced 91 for the third wicket before Jackson was caught.

All-rounder Will Clarke (32) batted superbly with Fulk to take him to his 50. Reed were 151-3 after 38 overs, when the heavens opened, and the game was shortened by 16 overs.

Fulk soon reached his first league century helping Reed to a score of 200-5 in their 45 overs.

In reply, Potters Bar needed to get off to a fast start, but this was not the case with Michael Berks and Pete Tidey tying them back, as they managed just 12 off the first seven overs.

Reed fielded superbly, taking some great catches, bowling tightly and took regular wickets throughout. However, the task of bowling out Potters Bar in 39 overs was always going to be unlikely. This proved to be the case as the match ended all square.

Reed captain Simon Jackson said: "The points situation of 17 to 6 was about right. It was disappointing not to win, but it was great to bounce back from last week's poor performance."

Reed III v Northampton Exiles III

REED'S Third XI were narrowly defeated in the Saracens Herts League match away to Northampton Exiles Third XI - losing by three wickets.

In batting first, Reed's openers were soon in trouble to some swing bowling.

Peter Baker (20) and Fergus Martin (35no) were the only batsmen to play with any fluency as Reed limped to a total of 107.

In reply the Exiles started cautiously and found runs hard to score with Neil Haslam bowling well from one end with some good support from Keeren Ward, Marcus Baker and Fergus Martin.

Exiles came back due to some costly fielding mistakes that allowed Northampton's Salim to guide his team victory in the 38th over.

Reed U-15 v Sawbridgeworth

REED showed good character in their match against Sawbridgeworth and despite losing two wickets in the first two overs came back to win by 19 runs.

Reed responded to the early dismissals with Michael Townsend 38 and Ben Brown, who made an unbeaten 28 rebuilding Reed's stamp on the game.

Reed reach a total of 99 from 18 overs. Sawbridgeworth's replied through Bakelmun who made 28, but threatened little else as Reed's accurate bowling took its toll.

Sawbridgeworth were 80-8 from their 18 overs.

Reed U-15 v Over

REED continued their winning ways by beating Over by 31 runs with captain Edward Garrott hitting an unbeaten 69.

Their innings was built around Garrott's superb play and scored a total of 146.

Over's innings began brightly and kept up the run rate until a great Ollie Smith catch removed Merola, who had been causing problems.

Reed U13 v Sawston

THE exciting exchange between Reed and Sawston saw Reed win by nine runs.

Reed won the toss and batted first with Sean Tidey making 18, George Garrott 16, and Kallum Ward 28, helping set a target of 113.

Sawston duly replied, making a steady start with their batsmen hitting the ball to all parts of the field.

In the 16th over with their score on 83 Sawston began to slip up. George Garrott caught Skinner deep for 64 and Michael Fox's bowling pinned Sawston back and gave Reed the victory.
