SIXTEEN-year-old Chris Trimble won the President's Cup at Royston Golf Club on Sunday.

He added a 67 to his opening round of 69 from his five handicap to take the title by two shots from 13 handicapper Keith Pitts.

Trimble, pictured, had a steady front nine of two over par and after dropping shots at 11 and 14 he bounced back with birdies at 16 and 17 to clinch the title.

Pitts had the title within his grasp, but a drive out of bounds on the 11th led to a triple bogey.

He did, however, manage to fend off his playing partner, Gary Noble, to take the runner-up spot. Noble finished third with steady rounds of 70 and 69 from his 15 handicap.

Gary Fortune won the Stableford on Sunday, amassing an amazing 43 points, five points clear of his nearest competitor, 15 handicapper, Graham Toby.

Fortune's steady play over both nines has seen his handicap slashed from 15 to 12. Stuart Hunt took third place on countback from Keith Jest and Andrew Greville-Smith as all players finished with 37 points.

Jonathan Osler's rich vein of form continued as he won both the Thursday Medal (70-4=66) and the Saturday Medal (72-3=69).

Taking second spot on Thursday was Steve De Fraine (84-13=71) and Ben Bennett (84-12=72) pushed his way into the runner-up slot on Saturday ahead of Trevor Sweeting, Marcus Shipley, Ray Sammons and Alan Saunders.

Shirley Bradshaw won the ladies bogey on Thursday, finishing with a score of 0. Marjory Humphreys took second place ahead of Pam Bonnett.

The ladies alternate bogey played on Saturday, was won by Janice Abrahams, but only on countback from Past Captain, Tracey Parsons.

Both players finished with 0, but Janice had the better back nine. Sue Cresser took third spot, finishing on -3.
