BASSINGBOURN picked up six of the seven Meldreth League points available as they defeated Chesterton 73-55.
Rink one, skipped by Ken Clark, along with Don Laing and Jamie Stewart won convincingly, leading from start to finish. Stewart once again showed his ability and the game finished 18-8.
Rink two started off a bit slow, in fact it was not until the 13th before Bassingborn caught up and took the lead. Shiela Triggs and Sid Manning, with control of the jack - putting in longer length ends along with skipper Andy Brown saving a couple of potentially high scores against them - began to run away with the game and came out eventual 21-12 winners.
Bassingbourn did not get off to a good start on rink three as Gabrieal Falcini and Anne Brown struggled to find their form and made it hard work for skipper Graham Parrish.
However, they did manage to catch up and lead by 12-5 at end 15 and then it all fell apart losing four on the next two ends, eventually going down 21-16.
Rink four definitely looked ready for defeat but Bill Manley rallied his team, Vic Mills and Ian Stewart, and on the 16th end came good and sneaked through to win 18-8.
n Bassingbourn junior Tom Waldock made his debut for a senior side in the Foxton mid-week league against Duxford on May 31.
His bowling was accurate and consistent with only a couple of wasted woods. Tom's rink lost on the day but only by a few shots.
His skip, Vic Mills, said: "Tom was a very welcome team member and we look forward to bowling with him again."
However, there was no happy end for Tom, pictured above, as Duxford beat Bassingbourn 5-1.
