TOWN went goal crazy on Saturday as they hammered 10-man Wormley to chalk up their biggest win in manager's Paul Attfield's three seasons at the club.

The home side had already beaten the same side 5-1 on their own ground four days earlier in the Herts Floodlight Cup, but Saturday's victory showed a truly ruthless streak from the home side, leaving Attfield delighted:

"I have been involved in and seen games where playing against ten players can be just as or even more difficult than playing against a full team so we did our job very well and were very ruthless.

"Our intensity never wavered at any time and hopefully this week's performances can give us good confidence going into a very tough month of fixtures".

A quiet start from the home side saw Wormley nearly open the scoring in the fourth minute through John Welsh who saw a shot flash wide.

Town's first real effort came in the 14th minute, and they took the lead when Will Turl played a great through ball for Jan Stephens to slide under the keeper.

The key moment came four minutes later when Turl received a through ball from Luke Robins but was pulled down by keeper Rob Stevenson in the area for a clear penalty.

Referee John Parker somewhat harshly gave him a straight red card, and after Robins had struck the penalty into the top left corner, there was never any doubt that Town would win comfortably.

In the 24th minute, Turl again found room in the box to unleash a fierce shot that was well blocked, but Mark Wright reacted best and fired home the loose ball.

Three minutes later Turl gained his first goal of another hat-trick with a well measured shot from the edge of the area which found the bottom left corner.

The remaining period of the half was largely scrappy and uneventful with Town not quite selective enough to create more clear openings but intent enough on maintaining a clean sheet.

It took only two second half minutes for Town to make it 5-0, when Turl fired home Robins' cross, and by the 49th minute it was 6-0 when the visitors messed up a short free kick routine and Duncan Easley's long clearance sought the pace of Wright who ran clear to fire home.

On 56 minutes Luke Robins headed in Lewis Endacott's near post corner for goal number seven and three minutes later Matt Turl tapped in another Robins' cross to make it eight.

Will Turl completed his second hat-trick of the week with 23 minutes remaining with an angled drive from 12 yards after again racing clear of the visiting defence, but for a long period it looked like double figures might prove elusive for the home side.

However, with seven minutes left, youth team player Liam Beaumont scored his first goal for the club when he converted Dean Chaffey's pull back to complete the rout.

Buntingford: D WIlliamson, D Easley, C Hardy, L Endacott, J Stevens, D Chaffey, M Smith (L Beaumont), W Turl, M Wright, M Turl, L Robins. Unused sub: J Babbage.

- Liam Beaumont's second goal in as many games was enough to give Town a 1-0 win against Wodson Park on the Herts Floodlit Trophy on Monday evening.

Town progressed to the semi final stage of the competition with victory against their division one opponents who totally belied their league and position status to play their part in a very entertaining encounter.

The work out for Buntingford got pleased boss Paul Attfield as the pace of the game was very quick throughout with both sides giving full commitment and effort.

The only goal of the game came in just the fourth minute when following a corner the ball deflected onto the crossbar and Beaumont reacted quickest to head in from close range.

- Town return to action on Saturday when they travel to high-flying Hatfield Town.
