WITH Letchworth scoring with their first and last attack of the game, the true reflection of the game did not match the scoreline.

In an entertaining match between two equally balanced teams, the home side showed the importance of taking your chances, as that was all that was between them

Melbourn's Ciaran McQuade made a number of good saves throughout the match, and gave the Panthers a decent platform to build from.

The returning Tom Hollway, playing his first game since December, was in commanding form in the Melbourn midfield, and almost grabbed an equaliser with a fine effort that was pushed away by Letchworth's goalkeeper.

Melbourn came close again just before half-time, when George Storey sent his shot crashing against the post.

In the second half Melbourn introduced Ben Greenaway, who made an immediate impact with some darting runs, and created space for strikers Luke Eades and Storey.

However, as much as they tried, it just wasn't meant to be, and after failing to convert a number of opportunities, Melbourn could not snatch the elusive equaliser before Letchworth killed the game.

IN heavy playing conditions, Letchworth took early control, and from then, Melbourn were always playing catch up.

Within a matter of minutes, the home side were in front and their neat passing and quick breaks forward proved too much for the Tigers to cope with.

Melbourn's Oscar Jones made some good saves to keep the score at 1-0 and man-of-the-match Ryan Barton, Seb Bishop, and Charlotte Knight battled well in midfield.

But they suffered a blow, however, with Letchworth snatching two quick goals before the break.

The hosts' grip tightened in the second-half and they hit their fourth minutes into the restart.

The second-half introductions of Megan Jeray and Jack Morley gave Melbourn an extra edge, and their pressure paid off when Matthew Harris broke free in the box and slotted home nicely for the Tigers.

The goals spurred the visitors on, as Melbourn created chances and held firm at the back with Andrew Chitty and Thomas Lucas defending well.

But they suffered another setback when Letchworth grabbed their fifth, with another following shortly afterwards.
