ROYSTON Golf Club played host to Cambridge University Blues in a scratch match.

Playing as the Outlaws Golf Society, as they have done since the inaugural match in 1893 when university sport was not permitted on Sundays, the Blues were soundly beaten by Royston.

The morning foursomes were all won by Royston and the only point dropped in the singles was by Chris Watson who halved his match as Royston claimed an emphatic 11.5 to 0.5 victory.

Ryan Sharp was the toast of the Junior Section on Monday when he won the Junior Medal Winners final with an impressive nett 60.

After winning the September Medal with a nett 58, his handicap has now been trimmed by 18 shots in the last couple of months.

Tom Porter finished second with a nett 66 and also won the scratch shield just ahead of Lyle Clark who finished third. Daniel Smith retained the Order of Merit Trophy, based on results of competitions throughout the year.

The October Stableford, also played on Monday, was won by 22-handicapper Adam Wright with an excellent score of 42 points.

Luke Bailey was second with 38 and Matthew Graver and Greg Fyson were tied for third with 36.

Carolyn Devaney won again last week, winning the Ladies Autumn Meeting with a nett 73, edging out Mary Wilson on countback.

Jane Millership and Jenny Jarvis recorded 74s whilst Karen Pearson won the bronze division with a 75.

Ryan Van der Merwe took the spoils in the Saturday Stableford with 41 points, pushing playing partner James Moule into second. James had the consolation of having his handicap cut to single figures for the first time.
